After every self- or foreign-inflicted accident (also without third-partyinvolvement), vehicle theft, fire, wildlife accidents or other damages to the rental car (even if the last is a minor one) the lessee is obligated to:

  • immediately report to the lessor via telephone (who is available during day and night)  and align on further usage of the damaged rental car.
  • immediately report and consult the police to record the damage. If the police is not available via telephone the lessee needs to report to the next police station. If the police is denying the record of damage the lessee needs to provide a written confirmation about such to the lessor.
  • record the names and registration plates (including their insurance numbers) of all parties involved in the accident and record contact details of possible witnesses.
  • immediately report truthfully all details of the accident to the lessor and provide such with the completely filled-out and signed police accident report
  • do everything within the realms of possibility to clarify the damage occurrence and support the assurance of proof. Especially regarding questions of the lessor about the circumstances of the damage occurence the lessee needs to support in a timely manner

After a vehicle theft the lessee is obligated to provide immediately the car key and documents to the police or the next rental station. Furthermore the lessee is also obligated to not provide any acknowledgement of debt or arrangements, which contain damage consumption, towing or repair services, without the consent of the lessor.
